“Koi-nobori” (Carp Streamers)

Moms and dads of boys! Are you all set for the big event for boys held once a year In Japan—the Boys’ Festival (Children’s Day)? Preparing a large carp streamer is difficult, but let’s celebrate to the full with this carp garland.

We’ve put it together with all of the letters of the alphabet, plus numbers, so you can insert names and dates to create memories. For a helmet, fold some origami paper and pop it on their head! Even if you make it the old-fashioned way with newspaper, not colored paper, we’re certain it’ll be lovely. Give it a try next time.

If they’ve started on baby food, then how about a special baby food dessert? Layer bread porridge, finely chopped strawberries, mushed banana, and yogurt one on top of the other for a celebration baby food that’s a little bit special. You can also make it cute with carrots or pumpkin. Try layering it with baby food that you have stocked in your fridge! As for very moist things, add some starch to thicken them before layering.
