Watermelon buying day
Chirp, chirp, chirp! When you hear the sound of the cicadas, that means it’s the middle of summer and time to go buy a nice, round watermelon at the grocer. Heave, ho! You’ve got a magnificent watermelon, but be sure to snap some photos with your baby before eating it! The watermelon is a very photogenic fruit.
Before taking your photos, have a popsicle to cool down after all that sweating. But don’t throw away the popsicle stick! Stick it into a watermelon slice to make a cute watermelon bar. Prop it up inside a cup for decoration.
If your baby is still too young to sit up, cut the watermelon in half and line up the pieces. A surprising number of watermelons are long and egg-shaped, so cut it horizontally rather than vertically to get a circular cross-section. For cute photos with nice red circles, it’s better to put the watermelons on medium sized rather than large plates, so the plates don’t stick out underneath.
In this first summer, I wonder if your baby’s head is around the size of half a watermelon? I wonder how big it will be next year!
You can also position your baby in the back and the watermelon in front to take a cute watermelon dress photo!
Oh boy, that was fun. Maybe next summer you can eat a watermelon together.
