Fun ideas for you and your baby
Diaper Cake
in Japanese Style
Babies spend 10 months inside mommy’s tummy. During this time, you and the baby are together all the time. However, you may have a strange feeling of not actually knowing the baby yet until you finally meet and hold the baby. You may be thinking like, “When do I see you?”, “Will we meet soon?’, or “Well, we are together now”. You must be also feeling excited to think about the baby. When you’re eagerly anticipating the birth of your child and can’t concentrate on anything, how about making a diaper cake and taking some photos to record the moment with your baby in your tummy?
Let’s add extra decorations on the red and white paper flowers that are often used at school events (in Japan). You can make a dahlia look-alike paper flower by cutting the edge of flower petals sharply. It looks lovely when you insert fresh flowers here and there.
For the details about how to make a diaper cake, please refer to “A Unique Gift to Welcome a Baby, Diaper Cake” in one of Luntan’s articles. The diaper cakes are usually decorated in Western style, but you can make them in a chic Japanese style with a tenugui (a Japanese traditional hand towel) and an obijime (a decorative sash to tie the obi, a sash).
For a Japanese style, we recommend simple garlands from Luntan’s free downloadable garlands. You can have a sense of harmony when you put the same paper and fresh flowers that you also decorated the wall on top of the diaper cake. The red version of Japanese style diaper cake is also available on Luntan’s Instagram. Please check out our Instagram account as well!
You know what? We, mommy, daddy, and your sister, are all ready and excited to welcome you here at home. We all can’t wait to hold you who are kicking energetically right now very soon!
